About
Every year, the festival grows stronger within the community, and this time, a new generation is making its mark – both on stage and behind the scenes. This May, get ready for their most exciting and diverse weekend yet, packed with over 75 events for all ages and interests.
Kicking things off on Friday, the spell-binding Camille O’Sullivan takes the stage. Expect big laughs from comedian David O’Doherty, live music from the brilliant Katie Kim, and a must-see show by Little John Nee. Book lovers can catch talks with leading authors Paul Murray and Katriona O’Sullivan, while Donal O’Kelly mixes performance and conversation in a unique event.
Film fans won’t want to miss a special screening of Blue Road, the acclaimed documentary about author (and former local) Edna O’Brien, plus a diverse film lineup. In visual arts, stunning exhibitions from Eileen Ferguson and Oisín Tozer will be on display.
And that’s just the start! The festival is packed with unique events, from a historic pub crawl and the Festival of Football History to Phizzfest Rising, their showcase of fresh talent. Get hands-on with circus workshops, kayaking, chess, crafts, and a Japanese Ikebana session. Families can enjoy a treasure hunt, a Mad Hatter’s tea party, and an outdoor ‘bloc’ party. Plus, don’t miss Sunday’s community day at Shandon Gardens by the canal, filled with music, entertainment and fun for all ages.
