STRAND formed in Finglas, Dublin in 2018 as a four piece, punk-revival band named Soundstrand. Rebranding in 2024 as STRAND - and recruiting a fifth member for good measure - has seen the band rise to new heights.

Rebranding to STRAND saw the band move away from abrasivity and towards a brighter, poppier tone in both image and sound. September 2024 saw the release of ‘Progress’, a synth-laden ballad about the changing nature of life, to much acclaim.

Quickly following ‘Progress’ was ‘Upside Inside’, an anthemic tune described as ‘the epitome of fun, and bound to be stuck in your head for days, if not weeks to come’, which received even greater acclaim. Coverage from outlets such as Hot Press, IMRO, RTÉ, TheBeat and more, as well as radio play on RTÉ 2FM, Dublin South FM and more, saw the band garner attention unlike anything they had seen as Soundstrand.
